WOoow, like wooow! this is such a fantastically researched and fascinating timeline. Seriously, so many people only remembering/praising this game with “it’s hard” as their explanation as to why it became so big. Sure, the mechanics were good, but others did too. More importantly IMO they were good because they fit with the world and story, and WHAT a world and story, so much thinking. In my opinion even people who don’t recognize it and talk just about gameplay, the reason they’re noticing/taking the time to enjoy/discover it is even against their own beliefs the fact that all this back thinking and lovingly crafted world and universe and history is seeping through every orifice and even as they think they’re just “fighting” the reason the area is interesting to fight in is that each corner has in it not just good local level design but more importantly bits of the big picture which dictates and unifies it all.

You can tell she loves him because she played this game for him… and of course that he loves her because he wanted to share his awesomest experiences with her. There’s even a marriage proposal discussion appearing at one point… proving the love inducing properties of Dark Souls.
But you can reeeaaaally tell he loves her if he played silly cute Kirby’s Epic Yarn with her :D Grumpy swearing Yahtzee playing Kirby :)) ha ha ha
The treatment is a bit silly for my tastes (though i did get a few chuckles), however some nice digging around and even some revelations. Oh boy oh boy, today is the release day of the last DLC for DS3, can’t wait to for the first time in my life explore a souls game for the first time in co-op :D
It’s amazing how much camaraderie such a dark game has inspired… and also the music can describe the excitement of going back in for more fun even if as I prefer you explore the world in singleplayer.
As cool as I find this trailer now I think it’s largely because of the many beautiful memories, because if I try to have a detached look at it I would probably dislike how empty/flat many of the environments look and that it seems to be all about fighting bosses. There reason I’d be wrong though in not playing it after this trailer is because what the trailer doesn’t show are the many choices and paths you can take, the many ways you can approach things and the beautiful ways in which you can get lost in the worlds realistic deadends… the feeling of exploration.
And with all 3 addons… man, there’s a LOT of exploring to do in there for anybody who hasn’t played it.
