I’m an old MTG fan for the addictive gameplay (at least in a RPG morph) and even more so for the brilliant illustrations. This is the first time I see a trailer worthy of it’s illustrations both in visual style and even in story! Glad to see MTG is set for a comeback! Here’s to hoping that (unlike my guess) it won’t be just about selling micro packages but rather have a rpg mechanic/story!

I think he answered or at least emphasized the 2nd question wrongly: capitalism isn’t a win-lose situation, it’s a win win. The people who expect a company to lose money to do something is just as unreasonable as a company which would really want to cheat consumers and take their money without giving them a game… I think it’s wrong to put the emphasis on greed: those people are hiring people, buying hardware and paying a lot of skilled man hours of artwork and programming and technology (think u can put out a great game faster/cheaper, do it, we can’t wait!)…

it would actually be in the consumer’s disadvantage if they didn’t make money. Say some of the short sighted people’s wishes came true, and their favorite developer didn’t do that, and instead pushed out their favorite cool new game at a lower than production price: the result would be they’d be kicked out of business. So my advice to anybody who want’s a company they love to keep making games is to wish them to be as profitable as possible, as that will guarantee great games in the future too from them, and even better it will make other developers create more games of that type and of that quality and creating competition for the genre and theme of your choice. So, people, be wise, don’t wish him to “side with the consumers”: that would be like a mob of peasants going into a factory and robbing the products: sure, they may get rich for this week, but what about next month and next decade?
Whenever somebody buys a game (or doesn’t), they are voting with their pocket and that’s MUCH more powerful than rants and shouts and long forum flaming! So, it’s simple: if you like a company and want them to release more, get more from them or from their competitors in the same genre. If you think game prices are too high get them cheaper/later/from other distributors/online and they will come down. Simple.

Had to say this as too many people talk about greed and bad stuff when in fact it’s all awesome stuff and exciting stuff!

I was very moved by this intro. It manages to create such a warm atmosphere with the little touches (such as flower water :)) ).

Great translation into GTA world of the classic Super Mario story, all with twists, great video editing, nice scripting and good music sync… i’m tellin ya next gen of great movie makers are gonna be gamers :D

Btw, i’ve been meaning to ask gamers around the world, isn’t themovie Crank pretty much GTA turned into a movie, without the nametag? I got that impression through the whole movie and I think I even saw a Rockstar logo somewhere.

These guys really made a difference in time! I wouldn’t consider them an artwork company but their technology has really enabled so many great experiences in artwork that I had to pay a tribute. For their time I must admit each game like Doom 2 & Quake did stimulate my artistic imagination (i used to dream up maps a lot :P probably my start to 3d gfx), and even some of their games had some exquisite artwork experiences: the music in Quake 2, the (intro) story in Doom 3, and simply making real things one had never seen before, weather it be the image of a (fantasy) Nazi prison/dungeon or bringing true and polygonal 3d that you could see from any angle when we were before even excited by a 8 angle sprite. Big respects!

Wow! I just saw on steam a new RPG coming out… got excited… and though I don’t think it’s gonna be the type i like with many choices and character creation I must admit I am blown away by this trailer. So many unexpected things, so full of mood and such an interesting perspective… really gets one’s imagination going.

Yes, i wish there was less shooting, more atmosphere and I assume it will be lacking in dialogue/choices BUT to it’s credit I must say visually it surprises me: the artworkseems very polished, ideas are pretty interesting, the weapon model shadowing impressed me especially, animation and general production seems to have attention to detail (eg a lot of work in it) and it may even hint at a return of the style in my all time favorite adrenaline pumping soundtrack: Quake 2, I think i even recognize a bit of a  bit of the theme from one of the songs there.

Yakuza 4 [gt review]

Normally i would be quite reluctant to try a game so very focused on the combat, and it seems like just another Gta clone… BUT … i played Yakuza 2 and I must say i was BLOWN AWAY at how gripping the story was. I mean very veery interesting. I just couldn’t wait to find out about what happens next. Even the violence seems much more internally coherent and justified than most modern action games. However I will penalize it saying that lack of voice overs and having to click your way through dialogues with many people is not a plus, though it is nice that the interaction is there.
I hope they do continue the series/the developer branches out/other companies pick the good stuff out of these games while filling their more empty spots (content, production values, less Japanese only targeting).

It’s nice to see they did remember why the first one was good: choices… to be honest though I’m a bit disappointed: it seems to me to lean towards the shooting (on the upper hand if they put pc gamepad support i can live with it :P ), and while back then it was cool to have 3 ways to traverse a map now I had expected a lil more :P With this level of choice they better have as much polish & subtle touches as a Metal Gear Solid 3 (lookalike, don’t u think?) game to succeed in 2011. Just my 2 cents.

PS: is it just me or does the environment seem kinda generic artwork? I mean even in that urban setting it feels a bit too… made out of reusable bits?
